Christians are being urged to work hard and escape poverty by Kampala Diocese Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere if they want to see paradise when they die.
At the priestly golden jubilee and episcopal silver jubilee ceremonies for retiring Vatican ambassador (Apostolic Nuncio) Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, Ssemogerere gave the homily.
On Sunday, thousands of devout attended the celebrations in Mitala Maria, Mpigi district.
The prelate urged Christians to use their God-given abilities and the gift of life to escape poverty, emphasizing that God has no room for the underprivileged in heaven.
The poor will not be entertained by God in heaven. You won’t visit the place. Additionally, I’ll be stationed at the door to prevent you from entering. The gospel has been misconstrued by us. Ssemogerere said that being impoverished shouldn’t be mistaken for being cash-strapped.
“God will say I created you with eyes, a brain, and gave you life, and you die poor?,” the Archbishop continued. You’ll burn up in hell. We must exert ourselves. Let’s not lie in bed and do nothing.
First first black African Apostolic Nuncio, Emeritus Archbishop Kasujja is from Mitala Maria, Mpigi area.
