Tom Dradriga’s Olympic adventure came to a painful end at the 2024 Paris Games after he narrowly failed to advance to the Men’s 800m semifinals.

The Ugandan middle-distance runner finished fifth in his repechage round, clocking a time of 1:46.15 on Thursday.

Dradriga had been relegated to the repechage round after finishing sixth in Heat Six of the preliminary rounds on Wednesday, with a slightly faster time of 1:46.05.

To secure a spot in the semifinals, Dradriga needed to win his repechage heat, but it was Botswana’s Haingura Kethobogile who took the lead and secured the automatic qualification.

Dradriga had dropped to repechage on Wednesday after failing to secure one of the final spots in the semifinals.

On Friday, the Ugandan duo of Sarah Chelangat an Annet Chelangat will be in the Women’s 10,000m final at 10:43pm
