FUFA Select team secured their place in the semifinals by defeating SC Villa 1-0 in a return leg quarterfinal fixture of the 2024 FUFA Super Eight at Lugogo.
This victory, combined with their 2-1 win in the reverse fixture, gave them a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
The decisive goal came in the second half when Bright Stars defender Samuel Kato headed in Hakim Mutebi’s well-placed corner.
Earlier in the day, BUL dominated Maroons with a commanding 3-0 victory, courtesy of a brace from Isaac Wagoina and a goal from Dickson Mataama.
This result, coupled with their 1-1 draw in the first leg at Kitende, saw BUL advance with a 4-1 aggregate score.
The semifinals are now set, with the FUFA Select team facing Vipers, who previously eliminated NEC.
The other semifinal will feature defending champions BUL against Kitara, who earlier ousted KCCA.
Teams that were defeated in the quarterfinals will compete in placement games to contest for 5th to 8th places.
The FUFA Super Eight returns on Saturday and Sunday.
