Ugandan trio of Ashraf Mandela, Eric Ssenjobe, and Allan Kateregga have won their first title with Rwanda’s Police FC, just weeks after joining the Kigali-based side.
Leftback Ssenjobe was a substitute, while Mandela started in rightback for the law enforcers as they clinched their first-ever Rwanda Super Cup title after triumphing over APR FC in a tense penalty shootout that ended 6-5.
Mandela, a former Vipers and URA player, was particularly instrumental in Police’s defensive setup that saw them conceed no goal for 90 minutes, as the two sides settled for a goalless draw.

The tie at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday evening had to be decided through spot-kicks, since neither side was able to break the deadlock in normal time.
Police goalkeeper Patience Niyongira was the hero of the day, saving two crucial penalties to secure the historic win.
In the decisive penalties, Muhadjiri Hakizimana, Ani Elijah, Eric Nsabimana, Didier Mugisha, Simeon Iradukunda, Abeddy Bigirimana all scored for Police, while only Issah Yakubu missed his.

Meanwhile, Clement Niyigena, Mahamadou Sy, Alioum Souane, Gilbert Byiringiro and goalkeeper Pavelh Ndilla converted for APR, as Dauda Seidu and Richmond Lamptey missed theirs.
