Tusker FC Braced For ‘Tough’ Friendlies Against UPL Teams

Kenya Premier League giants Tusker FC have safely arrived in Uganda, where they will have three friendly matches against prominent Uganda Premier League (UPL) sides.

The Kenyan Brewers left Nairobi for a long but exciting road trip to Uganda on Sunday morning, and had arrived in Kampala by night.

The team had a light training session on Monday morning, preparing for a demanding week coming up – a marathon of three matches in a space of just six days!

Tusker will play a match on Tuesday, another on Thursday and the last one on Saturday, against Mbale Heroes, Kitara and Lugazi respectively.

“This is an important part of our pre-season training because it gives us a chance to build team synergy and cohesion,” Tusker interim coach Charles Okere said, about the preparation.

“We are also looking at improving the team generally in terms of the technical, tactical and mental aspect.”

“We also have all new players now locked in and this is an opportunity for us to further gel and understand each other. I want to thank our sponsors Tusker for making this possible for us,” Okere added.

All the matches will kick off at 4:00pm, and the Brewers will start with Mbale Heroes on Tuesday, August 6, at Mbale stadium.

The Kenyan side will then proceed to play Uganda Cup winners Kitara on Thursday, August 8, at Masindi stadium, before finally playing Lugazi on Saturday, August 10, at Lugazi stadium.

“These tough matches are really vital because they will show us where we are as a team and what we need to work on as we go back home to prepare for the new season,” Okere added.

The Nairobi-based club is home to four Ugandan players; George Kaddu, Deogratius Ojok, John Byamukama and Boban Zirintusa.
