Another Kataka Player Moves To US

Kataka FC’s reliable Ugandan midfielder Lazarus Ocira has left the country for better opportunities in the United States of America.

In America, the 18-year-old, who recently completed his secondary school education at Amus College will be looking to further his studies as he also grows his football career.

The former BUL JT and KCCA JT player flew out on Sunday, to join Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) in the US.

EFSC is a public college in Brevard County, Florida – a member of the Florida College System and has campuses in Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Titusville, as well as a Virtual Campus.

For the past two seasons, Ocira has been solid for Kataka in the Big League, playing a vital role in balancing the team’s midfield – rightfully considered Lufumbi’s engine by many who have watched him play at home, and on the road.

Not only is Ocira efficient, but effectively versatile too! The midfielder has occasional been deployed in central defence, and always goes on to exhibit some apt defending skills.

Not so tall, Ocira jumps so high to win aerial duels, not so huge, but the midfielder bullies opposing players to control matters in the middle of the park.

The youngster’s abilities are not a surprise to those who know the veritable football family he hails from – Ocira is a younger brother to BUL defender Walter Ochora and Maroons midfielder Felix Okot.

Ocira’s two elder brothers, both playing in the Uganda Premier League represent Acholi Province in the FUFA Drum tournament, but Ocira played for Bugisu Province – where he was easily trusted despite his young age.

For the short time he has spent in Mbale, Ocira obviously stands out as one of Kataka’s best players. In the league? he was simply amongst the best, in his position – relating to his effeciency.

A number of players have already left Kataka ahead of the new season, and even more are reportedly on their way out, but the Mbale-based Big League side will specially miss the services of their influential midfielder.

In America, Ocira will link up with former teammate and close friend Emmanuel Mukisa, who also previously played for Amus College, Kataka and Bugisu Province before leaving the country last year for broader opportunities abroad.
