Wanderers climbed up to second in their group in the National Women’s T20 League following their double header victory against Tornado on Saturday.
The side’s victories came in comfortable fashion, beating their opponent first by 71 runs and later by 45 runs. Naome Kayondo who notched a half century of 65 against Pioneer last weekend was once again instrumental for her side as they secured the much needed wins.
The former Victoria Pearls captain scored 45 runs and picked two wickets in the first game to ensure the two points are bagged.
Irene Mutoni and Christine Anayo each also picked two wickets for Wanderers in the morning game. Blessing Apio carried her Tornado team in the first innings of the first game, picking 4 wickets, but was let down by the batters.
Tornado Bees against Africa Cricket Club was the other in the Women’s division over the weekend. Tornado Bees obliterated their opponents, crashing them by 168 runs. Teddy Oyella bagged a 87 not out half century in the game.
That was Tornado Bees’ fourth win and it is one that keeps them third in the Group A with nine points, three behind second placed Jinja SS and four adrift of Soroti City, the leaders of the group.
Wanderers meanwhile trail Olila by 2 points in the other group. Tornado are placed last with zero point as they’ve thus far lost all their games. ACC are placed second bottom in their group with just four points.
